Activity Type Descriptions

This article provides a description of the activity type options available when a faculty member enters a new activity into their workspace.

Faculty can enter a new activity into their workspace by first confirming they are in the fiscal year in which the activity will begin. They can toggle between fiscal years by clicking the arrows. Once confirmed, they will click on the "Enter an Activity" button.

faculty workspace page with enter an activity button

The faculty member will then complete the "Enter an Activity" form. The "Activity Type(s) / Role" section includes all possible activity types based on the APM-025 policy. Faculty should select all activity types that apply. If they are unsure which option(s) to select, they can turn on the help text at the bottom of the screen and hover over the activity options for a detailed description of the activity. The activity types the faculty member selects will determine the category type and prior approval requirements of the activity. The faculty member should select all activity types that apply to their activity. Once the form is submitted, UC OATS will automatically generate the required forms (if necessary).
