Faculty Time Threshold

This article provides an overview of faculty time thresholds. According to APM-025 policy, faculty are allowed the following time to engage in outside professional activities:

• Academic-year faculty: 312 hours (39 days)
• Fiscal-year faculty: 384 (48 days)

Faculty's time threshold may be lower than what is allowed by policy. Time thresholds are determined by each campus and may vary by department. 

Time Threshold Copied to next Fiscal Year

When you move forward to the next fiscal year for the first time, the system will automatically copy your current threshold into the next fiscal year. You will receive the below message. Your time threshold may be adjusted by your campus UC OATS administrator when updated faculty data is uploaded into the system.
